Base’s Onchain Summer Offers Weekly Rewards for Creators Sharing Passion Projects

Base, a layer two blockchain built on top of the Ethereum network by crypto company Coinbase, announced in early July “Onchain Summer,” a yearly event that aims to bring together builders and creators to create on‑chain experiences, trade crypto, collect NFTs, and make crypto more accessible and useful than ever.
Running until August 2025, the event for this year focuses on celebration of blockchain creativity and innovation on Base.
What’s with Onchain Summer 2025?
“Onchain Summer will offer fun and meaningful onchain activities every day. Building on last year’s event, which showcased 75 NFT collections and saw over 700,000 NFT mints, this year’s Onchain Summer aims to get even more people involved, allowing participants to earn points by minting their favorite drops, redeem prizes, and buy onchain merch.”

For this year, there will be a total of 600 ETH, which is around $2 million, in prizes, grants, and gas credits available for everyone who participates, according to Base enthusiast and content creator Goyabean.
Builders who create mini‑apps can win social distribution and rewards of up to $500,000.
- Top mini‑apps will be judged by usage in a tweet‑thread round‑up and by participation of other teams to livestream and showcase their app.
- The top‑performing builders will be invited to Basecamp, and featured during the Onchain Summer awards ceremony. The contest runs until Aug. 11.

Creators who post what they love, for the opportunity to get paid even if it does not go viral, also will earn rewards through a contest held weekly.
Meanwhile, an Onchain Summer awards ceremony that concludes the two‑month‑long event will be held. That includes awarding the “most innovative and widely‑used apps” built on Base.
The teams behind those apps will earn a share of $200,000, will be featured on Base socials, and will share the stage at Basecamp, an eight‑week program designed to turn traditional software developers into smart contract developers.

FWB FEST 2025 is a long weekend of talks, live music, and experiences throughout the breathtaking campus of Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, California. It is set for Aug. 2.

Onchain Summit 2025 will feature a Base art show and mint on Aug. 21, a founders’ poker tournament on Aug. 22, a Roor Hella Bays’d concert on Aug. 23, and a demo stage on Aug. 23.
