Strategy Adds 267 Bitcoin as Saylor Expands $3 Billion Buyback Program

Michael Saylor‘s Strategy is still buying bitcoin, but its latest financial maneuver involves considerably more than another addition to its cryptocurrency treasury. On Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, the company disclosed a $22.1 million purchase of 267 BTC, lifting its holdings to 848,517 BTC.

Meanwhile, Strategy spent another $193.1 million repurchasing preferred shares and expanded its digital credit securities repurchase authorization to $3 billion, pairing its familiar bitcoin accumulation strategy with an increasingly active campaign to manage its own securities.

Another 267 Bitcoin Join Strategy’s Treasury

Strategy’s latest acquisition occurred between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18, with the company paying an average of $82,900 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses.

The purchase was financed through $22 million in proceeds from selling 140,872 shares of MSTR common stock, supplemented by $100,000 in existing cash.

With 848,517 BTC now on its balance sheet, Strategy’s cumulative acquisition costs stand at approximately $64.02 billion, translating to an average purchase price of $75,446 per coin.

Saylor Unveils a Bigger Repurchase Program

Saylor announced the latest figures on X, stating:

“Strategy has repurchased $193M of STRC and acquired 267 BTC. As of 10/18/26, we hold 848,517 BTC and $5.3B of USD Assets. We have also increased the size of our Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program from $2.0B to $3.0B”

The company’s Securities and Exchange Commission filing confirms that Strategy repurchased 1,938,780 shares of its variable-rate Stretch preferred stock (STRC) for approximately $193.1 million.

Following the board’s authorization increase, approximately $1.16 billion remains available for additional digital credit securities repurchases.

A $5.3 Billion Dollar Cushion

Strategy also disclosed $4.83 billion in its designated U.S. dollar reserve and another $447.3 million in cash, collectively representing approximately $5.28 billion in dollar-denominated assets.

The reserve supports preferred dividends and debt interest, while unrestricted cash provides additional financial flexibility.

For a company synonymous with accumulating bitcoin, the latest filing reveals another priority competing for capital: buying back its own securities.
