A Familiar Support Zone

Crypto trader Soka Data called attention to the setup in a post on X over the weekend, noting that SUI had snuck back into the bottom of its Gaussian Channel and asking followers whether the token could break through the midpoint soon.

The Gaussian Channel is a technical analysis tool built around the statistical concept of normal distribution. It plots three bands, an upper, middle, and lower line, around an asset’s price to help traders spot trend shifts and potential reversal points. Another trader by the name of El Tigre then replied to the post, adding:

“SUI back at the bottom of the Gaussian is a classic support zone, if it holds and volume shows up, a push toward the midpoint looks reasonable.”

The upper and lower bands of the Gaussian Channel typically function as dynamic support and resistance levels, with a bounce off the lower band often read by traders as an early signal of a potential reversal. The indicator smooths price data with an adaptive moving average, which makes it more responsive to shifts in volatility than a standard moving average, though neither trader’s read guarantees the bounce will materialize.

SUI’s Rough Stretch

SUI is currently trading at $0.7206, with a market cap of roughly $2.92 billion, making it the 30th-largest cryptocurrency by that measure. The token’s 24-hour trading volume sits near $135 million against a circulating supply of just over 4 billion SUI.

That price marks a steep decline from SUI’s all-time high of $5.35, reached during January of last year. The current level puts the token roughly 86% below that peak, a drawdown steeper than the pullback seen across most large-cap tokens over the same stretch.

That said, even as SUI’s price struggles have continued, the underlying network has kept attracting institutional users. Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Capital, for instance, tokenized a $75 million private markets fund that runs primarily across Coinbase’s Base network, Solana, and Sui, with additional share classes on Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, and Sei. The multi-chain rollout and Coinbase’s direct balance sheet stake in the fund became public on July 23, 2026.

Bitcoin.com News reported on the development, highlighting that access to the fund remains limited to qualified institutional and accredited investors, with a minimum investment of around $100,000. The product is administered by KAIO, a UAE-based tokenization infrastructure provider that first partnered with Mubadala Capital in December 2025.

Sui Networks Ongoing Momentum.

The Sui Foundation and Mysten Labs launched the Hashi testnet last week, letting bitcoin serve as loan collateral without wrapping it, with more than 25 institutional partners, including Bitgo and Ledger, already testing the protocol. That followed a May protocol change that made stablecoin transfers fee-free, a shift Sui says helped push its stablecoin volume past $65 billion in the weeks that followed.

The most pertinent test for SUI now is whether buyers step in at the Gaussian Channel’s lower band with enough volume to confirm the support the analysts have described. A failure to hold the zone would likely open the door to a retest of lower levels.
